British Airways is introducing no-cost high-speed onboard connectivity by way of satellite deal

Flyers flying with British Airways will soon enjoy high-speed wifi during flights without charge due to a recent deal with SpaceX's communications firm.

Complimentary and Quick Internet Across the Board

The carrier announced that the no-cost, “quick and reliable” wifi provision from the satellite provider will be available for travelers flying coach, business, or first class from the coming month.

Widespread Implementation Across Various Flight Operators

The umbrella organization for British Airways, International Airlines Group, announced it had secured an partnership involving the satellite firm for providing connectivity services for over 500 jets operated by their operators, including Aer Lingus, the Spanish carrier, and Vueling.

Smooth Internet starting at Boarding through Landing

The airline stated that the rollout of the system was part of a £7bn “transformation” program and will deliver uninterrupted connectivity service for travelers starting at boarding to arrival, even when they are flying above oceans and isolated areas.

Passengers will be able to link several electronics and do not have to use a separate password.

“Gamechanging for the airline as well as our customers, enhancing their experience onboard on BA by offering passengers smooth internet from gate to gate.”

Existing Internet Offerings

Limited wifi service is currently offered for British Airways flyers through the majority of the airline's planes using their .air system.

Members of the airline's loyalty club may send texts and plain-text messages in the air free of charge, while passengers looking to stream music, movies, or films throughout the journey who are not travelling in premium cabins may pay between four pounds ninety-nine to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for a connectivity bundle.

Latest Improvements at the Airline

The airline's management has been working to revitalize British Airways again following years with financial constraints, technology issues, industrial action, and mass redundancies.

BA explained that implementation of smart technology has assisted it to achieve the airline's punctuality at peak performance since over a decade ago.

Earnings Outlook

In August, British Airways reported a jump for financial performance during H1 of this year, assisting the parent company profit higher.

The group is set to report the earnings covering Q3 recently on Friday.

Other SpaceX Agreements

The airline's update arrives days following wireless provider another UK company announced it was partnering with Starlink to boost mobile network connectivity in rural parts across the United Kingdom, letting users to seamlessly link mobile devices via space-based systems if there is no traditional cellular service exists.
