Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
