Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Honors.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.

The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Dominance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a 13-month break following the birth of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
