Rob Edwards together with O'Neil each possess past connections with Wolves
Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.
Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.
The manager is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.
Nevertheless the ex- Luton head coach - who played over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.
The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the club directors as they begin the process of appointing a new manager.
Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.
The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to provide any compensation.
