Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, according to the royal household.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were present at the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the UK government.
The King has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the UN meeting.
Official representatives have described Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This involvement included speaking alongside French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.
The UN meeting will dovetail with the prince's own Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the day before he participates in the climate conference on November 6th.
In recent days the royal figure referred to the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".
The monarch has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".
"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats confronting humanity over global warming, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the monarch informed participants.
